CHAOS 7.5" x 10" PAPER AND FABRIC This is the first of three quilts made soon after the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. I see the "eyes" representing the eyes of people all over the world watching what was happening in NYC as well as the eyes of Americans as many of us seemed fixed in front of our televisions for hours at a time. The foreign languages papers represent the fact that people in many countries, in many languages, were talking about the attacks and what might happen next. The hand stitching reflects the importance of the people directly impacted by the attacks and the need to slow down our hectic pace and take time to honor them. |
